universal shipping box is a visual art and cultural exchange project between Manchester, Berlin and Buenos Aires, involving 5 artist-led arts organisations and 13 artists. The idea of the exchange is to connect contemporary artists and curators from Europe and South America to share fresh ideas and open up new possibilities for networking and future projects between the two continents.
universal shipping box es un intercambio cultural y artístico entre Manchester, Berlin y Buenos Aires, que involucra 5 organizaciones culturales dirigidas por artistas y 13 artistas visuales contemporáneos. La idea del intercambio es conectar comisarios y artistas de Europa y Sudamérica con el objetivo de servir como plataforma para compartir ideas frescas y abrir nuevas posibilidades de colaboración para realizar futuros proyectos entre los dos continentes.
universal shipping box will exhibit newly commissioned work from 13 artists. All works made for the exhibition will fit into a universally sized ‘pizza’ flat box for shipping, 312mm x 312mm x 40mm, and will explore the question of how the concept of the universal can be interpreted in the 21st century across the globe. In addition in each country there will be a series of talks, studio visits and networking events to strengthen the links and develop ideas for future exchanges.

Todos los trabajos de la exposición tendrán que ajustarse a las medidas del tamaño de caja de pizza universal de 312mm x 312mm x 40mm y explorarán los temas de cómo el concepto de lo universal puede ser interpretado en el siglo 21 a través de las distintas culturas del mundo. Como complemento en cada país habrán una serie de charlas, visitas a artistas en sus estudios y otros eventos de colaboración para reafirmar los lazos y desarrollar ideas para futuros intercambios.
